Inevitably, a website is something of a vanity project. The purpose of this page is to provide journalists with a wide selection of images of yours truly for use in news stories and related media. However, with respect to the unusual photograph of me speaking, a bit of background is necessary.
It was taken in the Senate while I was addressing the Foreign Fighters Bill. Just as I used the phrase ‘sunlight is the best disinfectant’, an unusual lighting effect I understand happens only once a year or so – and always to Senators sitting in that group of seats – spotlit me. Despite rumours at the time, I did not coordinate this – that would require control over the elements.
